New Year's Eve Wedding in Asheville, NC!

Cello, Violin & Piano Trios
at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville, NC!

This year’s New Years Eve wedding is one for the record books...

My hubby and I made plans to stay in Asheville after the wedding, so we decided to go up about an hour early to check into the hotel. As we drove, the temps kept dropping, and our GPS kept pushing our arrival time later and later. Lots of accidents ahead.

Around this time, our pianist Steve texted to say he was stuck in stopped traffic on I-40, and that it was turning into a solid sheet of ice. Apparently no one predicted the precipitation, and the cold temps paired with untreated roads were a recipe for disaster. I-40 closed halfway up the mountain, and our GPS rerouted us to a two-lane winding road for about 10 miles. It must have rerouted everyone else too. I’ve never seen so much traffic winding up the side of a mountain on a dirt road. Cars were on the side of the road everywhere, and as we got back on paved roads, we saw how slippery the roads really were.

After a stressful few hours of driving, we had long ago gave up on the idea of checking in at the hotel and just hoped we would make it to the wedding with enough time to tune and warm up.

Steve (pianist) and Victoria (cello) were also making their way slowly and treacherously to the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville.

Thank God we all made it there safely. Shuttles were closed, bridges were blocked off, but Verge Events and their team of vendors pulled off this incredible
NYE wedding and celebration without missing a beat.

We enjoyed working with East Coast Entertainment
as well as 50fifty the art of dessert.

The ceremony was on the heated terrace. We played inside, and our music was mic’d to the terrace. The breathtaking bride walked down the aisle to “Turning Page.”

“Clocks” (Coldplay) was the recessional.

Our pianist Steve stayed to play the Grand Bohemian’s beautiful Bosendorfer piano for the cocktail hour.

It was a new year to remember!
Thanks to this fun couple for inviting us to play for your wedding day.
Happy 2018!!!
