Abigail & Blake’s October Wedding at Hotel Concord in Concord, NC
Abigail’s dad contacted us over a year before her wedding date! We discussed their vision for the ceremony, and he mentioned a black and white theme with a 40’s Rat Pack vibe. The Hotel Concord has this exact vibe with their restored black and white floors, beautiful bar area, and open marble spaces. We love when the theme fits the venue! Abigail’s dad even requested that we include a black harp. Only one of our four harpists plays a black harp (the others are brown), so we immediately reserved the date with our harpist.
As the planning progressed over the months, we booked a violin harp duet for the prelude and ceremony music. We then paired up with Split Second Sound to provide an electric violin to play along to a Rat Pack themed cocktail hour mix, with Sinatra, Michael Buble, Dean Martin, etc. As I played the violin, I watched guests walk into dinner from cocktail hour. It was fun to see their faces when they realized that a live violinist was playing along with the DJ mix. The violin and DJ mixed so well that you couldn’t immediately tell that there was a live portion of the songs. Michael Glass was the DJ from Split Second Sound, and he did a fantastic job of helping us pull together the vision for this event.
Having a violinist elegantly dressed in black at the top of the formal staircase was the perfect fit for this wedding.
We played “ You Raise Me Up” (Josh Groban) for the mothers to be seated.
We played “Canon in D” (Pachelbel) for the bride.
And “The Wedding March” (Mendelssohn) was such a fun recessional!
We especially loved the throwback element of the newspaper themed programs & the live painter as an added touch. Take a look at these photos to see all the detail they incorporated!
Congrats to Abigail & Blake!
