Amy Johnson is a violinist originally from Utah, she graduated from Southern Virginia University with a Bachelors in Music and a minor in Spanish. She taught as the beginning and intermediate strings instructor for Rockbridge Area Youth Strings(RAYS) in Lexington, VA and also taught private violin lessons in her own private studio in Rockbridge County. She served as concertmaster in the Southern Virginia University Orchestra from 2017-2020 and also played in various chamber ensembles during her time there.
Amy recently completed her Masters Degree in Violin and Viola Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina where she studied with Dr. Ari Streisfeld. She is a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and enjoys teaching violin students in the Columbia area.
She enjoys performing regularly in a variety of settings including weddings and special events, and has performed with local symphonies including the Rockbridge Symphony, Long Bay Symphony and the South Carolina Philharmonic. When she is not teaching or performing, you will find her baking, swimming or reading.
